Styling Map View Options #
MissionaryConnect allows churches to customize how their missionary display appears on the touchscreen map. These settings control the appearance of the globe, map view, missionary information panels, navigation buttons, and overall layout of the display.
All settings can be found in your Settings → Map tab.
These controls allow you to tailor the display for your church’s screen size, design preferences, and missionary presentation style.

Map Style #
MissionaryConnect provides three display styles for viewing missionaries.
Globe View #
Displays missionaries on a rotating 3D globe.
This is the most immersive presentation and works well on large touchscreens.
Map View #
Displays missionaries on a flat world map.
This layout works well when many missionaries are displayed across multiple regions.
Grid View #
Displays missionary cards in a visual grid format.
This view focuses on missionary information rather than geographic location.
You can activate the view that works best for your church.
Globe Marker / PIN Style #
Choose how missionaries appear on the globe or map.
Missionary Name #
Displays the missionary name directly on the map.
This is ideal for churches with fewer missionaries where labels remain easy to read.
Pin Marker #
Displays a traditional map pin instead of the missionary name.
This option works well when many missionaries are located close together.
Backdrop Overlay Opacity #
The overlay control darkens the globe or map background to make missionary information easier to read.
Adjusting the slider will increase or decrease the darkness of the background.
Why this helps #
A darker background:
• Improves text readability
• Makes profile panels stand out
• Works well for brightly lit church foyers
Carousel Positioning #
MissionaryConnect displays a carousel of missionaries ( film strip ) along the bottom of the screen.
The Carousel Position slider allows you to adjust the vertical placement of that carousel.
This is useful when:
• Your touchscreen has unusual spacing
• The carousel overlaps other elements
• Your church wants a different visual balance
The slider adjusts the vertical spacing in pixels.
Missionary Information Display #
When someone taps a missionary, MissionaryConnect can display information in two different ways.
Default Behavior #
The system first shows information about the country where the missionary serves, including demographics and location details. Live data provided by the Joshua Project. DONATE
A huge shout out to all of those who help make the Joshua Project a success!
This provides helpful context for the mission field.
Direct Missionary View #
You can disable the country information screen so the missionary profile opens immediately.
Toggle the setting:
Showing – Country information appears first
Hidden – Missionary profile opens immediately
Profile Buttons #
Each missionary profile includes navigation buttons that open additional information.
These buttons can be renamed to match your church’s preferences.
Default buttons include:
• Testimony / Biography
• Images
• Prayer Letters
• Videos
• Contact Info
• Prayer Card
These labels can be edited from the Profile Buttons section.
Changes update instantly on the display interface.
Logo and Menu Display Settings #
MissionaryConnect allows several adjustments for branding and navigation icons.
Logo Size #
The logo size slider controls how large your church logo appears on the map screen.
You can also manually set the size from:
0x to 3x
Examples:
0 = Hidden
1 = Normal size
3 = Triple size
#
Menu Icon Size #
Adjust the size of the navigation menu icons.
This is helpful when using large touchscreens where icons should be easier to tap.
#
Show / Hide Home Button #
The optional 𖠿 Home Button resets the display to the main globe or map view.
Enabling this button makes navigation easier for first-time users.
#
Logo Background #
Some church logos appear better with a background.
Enable the logo background option to automatically add contrast behind the logo.
Because logos vary widely, you should review the display after enabling this option.
Color Settings #
MissionaryConnect allows churches to customize colors used across the display.
Available color controls include:
• Map background color
• Menu icon color
• Modal background color
• Modal text color
• Button color
• Button text color
This allows your missionary display to match your church branding.
You can also restore the default colors at any time.
Sections Visibility #
MissionaryConnect profiles include several optional sections.
You can show or hide them based on how much information your church wants to display.
Available sections include:
• History
• Timeline
• Posts
• Images
• Profiles
Turning sections off simplifies the missionary profile layout.
Church Logo and Featured Image ( Profile Settings ) #
Your church branding appears in several locations throughout MissionaryConnect.
Church Logo #
The primary church logo appears on the main map display.
This is the logo most users will see when viewing the missionary map.
#
Church Logo ( Light Version ) #
The Light Logo is used on darker backgrounds such as the rotating globe.
This version should be a lighter version of your logo for best visibility.
#
Featured Image #
The featured image is used in church search results and listings within MissionaryConnect.
This image can represent your church building, ministry, or congregation.
Best Practices for Map Displays #
For the best results on a church touchscreen display:
• Use a high resolution church logo
• Use Pin Markers if your church supports many missionaries
• Keep the backdrop overlay slightly darker for readability
• Test settings directly on the touchscreen after making changes
Each church display environment is slightly different, so small adjustments can make a big difference in usability.
