Understanding and Managing Missionary Pins #
Missionary Pins help churches visually display where their missionaries are serving around the world. Each pin on the map represents a missionary profile stored in the MissionaryConnect system.
When a church member taps or clicks a pin on the interactive globe or world map, the system opens the missionary’s profile page where they can view information, photos, and updates about that missionary’s ministry.
Missionary Pins make it easy for church members to explore the mission field and understand where their church is supporting missionaries.
What Is a Missionary Pin? #
A Missionary Pin is a marker placed on the map using geographic coordinates. These coordinates identify the location of the missionary’s ministry field.
Each pin is connected to a missionary profile in the MissionaryConnect platform. When the pin is selected, the missionary’s profile is displayed.
The pin itself does not contain all of the information. Instead, it acts as the visual connection between the map and the missionary’s profile page.
How Missionary Pins Are Created #
Missionary Pins are created when a missionary profile is assigned a location.
Church administrators can place a missionary on the map using:
• A city and country
• Latitude and longitude coordinates
• A general mission field location
Once the location is saved, the system automatically places the missionary on the map.
Managing Missionary Locations #
Church administrators can update missionary locations at any time through the MissionaryConnect admin area.
Location information can be updated if:
• A missionary moves to a new field
• A missionary begins a new ministry location
• A missionary returns to the field after furlough
Updating the location will automatically move the pin on the map.
Protecting Missionaries in Sensitive Areas #
Some missionaries serve in areas where their exact location should not be publicly displayed.
MissionaryConnect allows administrators to protect these missionaries by adjusting the visibility of their location.
Options may include:
• Displaying a general region instead of an exact city
• Placing the missionary “off country”
• Hiding the missionary pin while still allowing their profile to exist
These controls help churches keep missionaries represented while protecting sensitive information.
How Church Members Use Missionary Pins #
Missionary Pins allow church members to explore the mission field through the interactive map.
Members can:
• Zoom into regions of the world
• Select missionaries serving in specific areas
• Open missionary profiles to learn more about their ministry
This visual approach helps the congregation better understand the global reach of their church’s missions program.
Keeping the Map Organized #
As churches support more missionaries, the map can become crowded if pins are not managed carefully.
Church administrators should regularly review missionary locations to ensure:
• Locations are accurate
• Duplicate pins are avoided
• Missionaries in restricted areas are properly protected
Maintaining accurate missionary pins helps keep the map clear and easy for church members to explore.
A Visual Connection to the Mission Field #
Missionary Pins are one of the most important features of the MissionaryConnect system. They transform missionary data into a visual experience that allows church members to see where missionaries are serving around the world.
By placing missionaries on the map, churches can help their congregation stay aware of the harvest field and remain connected to the missionaries they support.
